Ruben Schilling received a Diplom in computer science and bioinformatics from the University of Freiburg with a thesis on non-rigid registration of mouse embryo tomograms. He has a specialization in graphical and imaging systems. In 2004-2005 he was a graduate student in the Baden-Württemberg program at UNCG, USA. After doing an internship with the Algorithmics group in summer 2005 he joined the group again for his student research project and diploma thesis. His research interests lie in PDEs for image processing, optimization, shape space and shape descriptors, atlas based segmentation, pattern recognition and biomedical and bioinformatics applications. In the applications I am especially interested in designing methods for co-localization detection on multiple abstraction levels of molecular processes and classifying aberrancies. Ruben is supported by a Max-Planck scholarship and a member of the DAGM and the ISCB.
